- About Our Client
St Mungo's was founded in 1969 when a small group of volunteers decided to do something to help people sleeping rough outside Charing Cross station in London.
From going out talking to people, offering food and assistance, the group formalised into a charity and secured our first hostel in a former marmite factory in Vauxhall in 1973.
Since then, including through joining forces with Broadway Housing in 2014, St Mungo's has grown into one of the country's leading homelessness charities, supporting tens of thousands of people a year.
Today, we combine frontline services with influencing work to help people find lasting routes away from homelessness, while driving system change to prevent homelessness from occurring in the first place.
Guided by our purpose of ending homelessness and rebuilding lives, alongside our values of being Committed, Creative, Inclusive, Empowering and Accountable, we provide safe, high-quality homes and services that enable people to recover from homelessness and fulfil their potential.
It's a very interesting time to be working in homelessness, with the Prime Minister just recently having made ending rough sleeping one of his top priorities.
There is a momentum that we haven't seen in a long time, huge amounts of funding, and an ambition to offer everyone sleeping rough a route off the streets by Christmas.
We are seeking a Chief Property Officer to join our Executive Team.
This new role is a high impact leader who provides strategic leadership of our property portfolio and directorate.
The role will ensure that investment decisions, delivery activity and asset outcomes are value for money, resident focussed, well-governed and aligned to our long-term objectives.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced executive leader to shape the future of a nationally significant organisation, influencing strategy at Board level while driving excellence across property services.
Job Description

- Drive continuous improvement and innovation, creating a client-focused culture that enhances service quality, safety and operational performance.
- Contribute as a key member of the Executive Team, helping shape organisational strategy and providing assurance on property-related risks, performance and opportunities.
- Oversee housing management and client engagement, ensuring strong performance across rents, service charges, tenancy management and resident involvement, with client feedback informing service improvements.
- The Successful Applicant
- Significant executive or senior leadership experience within property, housing or asset management, with a proven ability to build effective partnerships and drive results.
- Strong experience in social housing asset management, delivering high-quality services and positive outcomes for residents, with a Level 5 CIH qualification or commitment to get one.
- Experience working with Boards, Executive Teams and key stakeholders, providing assurance on performance, risk, investment and value for money.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, building safety and governance, ideally within social housing or another regulated sector.
- An inspiring and collaborative leadership style, with the ability to lead large teams, drive change, influence at senior level and build a culture of accountability, inclusion and continuous improvement.
- What's On Offer
- Salary of Circa £140,000
- Plus annual leave and pension
