The Birmingham based role supports the UK Managing Director and Group Chief People Officer in delivering the People Strategy for the UK Coach business, while leading Operational HR, Payroll and Recruitment and deputising where necessary for the HRD at UK Board meetings. The role oversees trade union engagement, HR governance, reporting and policy, ensuring high quality HR partnership and effective delivery across all people initiatives.

Alsa is a leading European passenger transport operator and part of the Mobico Group, running extensive bus and coach services across Spain, Europe, and Morocco. It is the market leader in Spanish road passenger transport and is expanding its footprint, including taking over UK Coach operations, strengthening its position as a pan‑European mobility provider. This role is based in Birmingham.

Description

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the organisation\’s goals.
  • Oversee talent acquisition, development, and retention processes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations across the UK.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement and organisational culture.
  • Manage compensation and benefits policies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align HR objectives with business needs.
  • Monitor and improve HR processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on HR-related matters to stakeholders.

Profile

The successful applicant for the Head of HR, UK role should have:

  • Fluent in Spanish would highly advantageous.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience of working collaboratively in a unionised environment and able to lead negotiations.
  • Experience of leading teams that include HR, payroll and recruitment.
  • Articulate with a strong ability to communicate and present data articulately.
  • Capability to drive strategic HR initiatives in alignment with business objectives.
  • A professional qualification in human resources or a related field.
  • Candidates must be based in the Midlands and able to be onsite in Birmingham 4 days a week.
