This executive level role will drive enterprise wide compliance, optimize operational performance, and ensure alignment with evolving customs and tariff regulations. The position carries full ownership of customs related performance, including risk management, operational excellence, and financial outcomes.
Main duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Lead national strategy for customs, tariffs, and trade compliance across the network
- Act as the organization's licensed Customs Broker and national permit holder
- Ensure full compliance with all import and export regulations
- Partner with senior leadership, legal, and government affairs to anticipate regulatory changes
- Identify and mitigate regulatory, financial, and operational risks
- Translate complex regulatory requirements into scalable business processes
- Oversee brokerage operations across multiple hubs and gateways
- Drive improvements in clearance speed, first pass yield, and operational efficiency
- Own and manage customs related P&L performance
- Develop and implement compliance programs, policies, and internal controls
- Lead audit and governance activities, ensuring strong compliance outcomes
- Maintain relationships with Customs and Border Protection and other regulatory bodies
- Drive continuous improvement, automation, and modernization initiatives
- Build and lead a high performing national compliance organization.
