The Chief Financial Officer will lead the team through a period of positive growth for the college. This educational organisation is based in Portsmouth and has a turnover of approximately 40 million per year. The CFO will safeguard the college's long‑term financial sustainability, support excellent governance, and enable the delivery of the college's educational mission and strategic ambitions.
Responsibilities:
- Build strong, effective relationships with the Chair of Governors and the Chairs of Audit and Finance & Resources Committees.
- Lead the development and delivery of a robust, long‑term financial strategy aligned to the College's strategic objectives.
- Advise the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Governors on funding options, borrowing, grants and investment structures to support sustainable capital development.
- Provide visible, credible leadership to a high‑performing finance function, promoting professionalism, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Act as a full and engaged member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to collective leadership and organisational effectiveness.
Profile:
- A strong background in accounting and finance within the not‑for‑profit sector.
- Professional qualifications in finance or accounting (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).
- Proven leadership in a number 1 finance role with the ability to manage and develop teams.
- Ability to build trust with the stakeholders and governors.
- Ability to highlight issues and be solution orientated.
