Job Description
- Act as the Group MD's right hand; the Chief Operating Officer will shape and execute the company's operational and growth strategy.
- Lead and improve back-office functions including finance, HR, IT, supply chain, legal, and compliance.
- Support the entire product lifecycle — from design and manufacturing to logistics and customer experience.
- Drive operational efficiency, process optimization, and scalability in a fast-paced consumer environment.
- Oversee key commercial and legal agreements, managing external legal counsel as needed.
- Provide performance insights through KPIs, dashboards, and operational reports.
- Act as a strategic connector across departments, resolving cross-functional issues.
- Manage risk, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.
- Support international operations, including partner/vendor management and regional logistics.
The Successful Applicant
- Proven experience as a Chief Operating Officer in a consumer manufacturing business with revenues over £100 million.
- Strong understanding of the manufacturing cycle for physical consumer products, ideally involving international production and retail distribution.
- Successful track record of scaling back-office operations and enhancing organizational effectiveness.
- Experience working closely with or reporting directly to a CEO/MD as a strategic advisor.
- Knowledge of commercial and legal processes, including contract negotiation, compliance, and governance.
- Resilient, pragmatic, hands-on, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
- Located near the HQ in Essex.
