Established in 1993, Fairways is a leading outdoor facilities contractor, offering a comprehensive range of services supporting both the public and private sectors throughout the Midlands. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join the Workshop Team as a Mechanic. The successful candidate will be based at our workshop in Hockley Heath, Solihull working on the company's and its customers' machinery, tools and equipment.
As a Mechanic, you will play a key role in the success of the business by ensuring that our Operative Teams can use their machinery through efficient servicing and maintaining a variety of plant and tools within the business. As part of our high-performing Workshop Team, you will be responsible for identifying and repairing any faults or damage to machinery, vehicles and tools, accurately updating service records and at times you may be required to complete repairs on our customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Help with general service, weekly checks and fault diagnostics for our vehicle fleet machinery range
- Carry out emergency servicing and repair of vehicles (both onsite as well as, at times, on emergency call-outs) as directed
- Undertake inspections of company vehicles in preparation for MOT
- Maintain comprehensive records, both electronically and in hard copy, for each vehicle/machinery item to demonstrate the performance of routine servicing, statutory inspection and breakdown repairs
- Undertake the correct and regular maintenance and calibration of all equipment in accordance with brand instructions and guidelines
- Diagnose, inspect and assess vehicles / associated mechanical equipment in line skills & competency
- Assist with the development and upkeep of team's digital logging processes to track workload, stock and vehicle/machinery health
- To maintain all company tools and equipment provided
- Liaise with customers as and when required
- To comply with all company policies, rules, and statutory regulations.
- To ensure that all equipment is stored safely in a clean and tidy manner at the end of each day.
- Adhere to Health and Safety regulations at all times to ensure safe working and the welfare of your team and our customers.
Qualifications / Attributes
- Proven experience working as a mechanic/fitter with a relevant mechanical qualification or time served
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to work effectively under pressure
- A customer-focused approach workload and committed team player
- A valid driving licence and ability to travel independently
