About the Opportunity
The Decommissioning Alliance (TDA) operates within the DNWP framework delivering critical decommissioning work at Sellafield, including the UK’s most challenging Legacy Ponds facilities. TDA is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to support the ongoing safe and efficient delivery of projects across the Sellafield site. The role serves as the TDA stakeholder interface for the Retrievals East River Project and ensures quality assurance activities are effectively carried out.
Responsibilities
- Produce, review and endorse Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans; undertake associated compliance verification activities.
- Liaise with Quality Control and ICG to verify processes and documentation (ITPs, weld procedures, etc.).
- Ensure the quality standards of the TDA Project are consistently met; raise authorised project documentation where standards are not satisfied.
- Review and update the IMS as required.
- Maintain package status and progress reporting, raise issues and liaise with the project and client QA/QC teams.
- Support internal and external audits, track actions, improve systems and reduce non‑compliances.
- Advise project purchasing staff on vendor competence, incorporating QA matters when selecting vendors.
- Initiate Quality Grade Risk Assessment meetings.
Qualifications
- Understanding of Quality Assurance, ISO 9001:2015 and Contractor Quality Requirements SLM 4.06.02.
- Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering background; Degree (2:2 minimum) in a relevant discipline or a professional qualification (e.g., CQI Diploma Level 5).
- Extensive Quality Assurance experience, including internal audit.
- Professional body membership in CQI or equivalent, or working towards it.
- Lead Auditor qualification is an advantage.
