About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to work as a Mechanical Project Engineer on the Hinkley Point C project. The role is site based and reports to the Construction Manager. The candidate will work following the Amentum construction team's 10‑day on‑site, 4‑day weekend rotation, starting on a Tuesday and finishing the following Thursday. Overtime and weekend pay rates align with the site ESCA agreement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure works are installed as per the specified design.
  • Where installation issues arise, develop an engineering resolution following the change process.
  • Analyse and review survey data to confirm as‑built state is within permitted tolerance.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, translate product drawings into actionable process information, and develop design ideas and plans.
  • Use initiative and experience to bring issues to prompt resolution.
  • Quickly understand new scope and give guidance on the most efficient installation methodologies.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Role‑specific degree or NVQ Level 6.
  • Experience carrying out design reviews, technical submissions and compliance.
  • Experience using CAD and NavisWorks software.
  • A chartered level of qualification is desirable.
  • Graduates or other postholders not meeting these criteria should provide evidence of extensive experience working in programme and project environments.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as ICE or another engineering institution is preferred.
  • Mechanical and Structural engineering experience is essential; Civil Engineering experience is preferable but not essential.
  • Secure BPSS clearance and either Security Check or Developed Vetting clearance (or ability to obtain).
