About the Opportunity

Appointed Person on the Hinkley Point C project.

Site‑based role reporting to the Construction Manager and supporting the site Construction team, with a 10 days on/4 days off rotation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure lifting activities under the Amentum scope comply with legislation, standards, COPs and the NNB lifting standard.
  • Promote and maintain health and safety, including site inspections to ensure safety rules are being implemented in support of a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Support the Lifting AP to ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site licence requirements.
  • Support the Lifting AP to compile and produce weekly and monthly reports in a timely manner for upward review.
  • Support the Lifting AP to ensure resources to meet organisational requirements are available in line with the delivery schedule.
  • Support the Lifting Team to ensure the project is delivered on time, on budget and to quality standards.
  • Handle lifting procedures, lifting coordination plans, lifting studies and lift plans.
  • Assess day‑to‑day activities and reporting into planning to ensure lifting tasks are prioritised accordingly.
  • Record all lifting operation delays.
  • Assist in developing best practical and innovative lift solutions.
  • Coordinate lifts alongside multiple project and construction management teams to ensure smooth operations and managed logistics around the sites.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience of working as a Lifting Lead on construction projects.
  • Ability to work in pressurised environments.
  • Extensive lifting experience (preferably engineered lifts).
  • Understanding of available small frame lifting equipment (e. g., spider cranes, pick‑up and carry electric cranes, Pico lifts and Genie lifting units).
  • Proven experience using Auto CAD and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • CPCS A61 Appointed Person.
  • Competent operator (Blue Card).
  • NVQ Level3 ACE card qualified in steel erecting / moving loads.
  • ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads with TAP01 OSH Managing Safely.
  • Experience of Heavy Lift planning involving mobile cranes and/or loose lifting equipment.
  • Good familiarity with Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) or international equivalents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in client/contractor project office.
  • Good communication skills and previous experience interfacing with clients and work coordinators regarding lifting and rigging.
  • On‑site presence required for witnessing lifts and for immediate support.
  • Previous experience managing rigging equipment stock.
  • Security Clearance Requirement
