We are recruiting for a Senior Radioactive Waste Management Consultant to join our team. Due to the rapid growth of our business in the civil nuclear waste management sector, we require more support to deliver and continue to expand our expertise. We have a leading role in waste strategy, inventory and compliance underpinning the future management of radioactive waste, spent nuclear fuels and nuclear materials. We also support clients with Site End-State decision making and underpinning environmental activities.

In the UK, we deliver a diverse range of projects for waste producers, waste management organisations and strategic authorities across all aspects of the waste lifecycle. We are delivering similarly interesting and exciting projects across the globe including projects for clients in Norway, Central & Eastern Europe and Japan. You will focus on the development and assessment of radioactive waste inventories and characterisation data to support waste management strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work on a range of consultancy projects for customers including radioactive waste producers, radioactive waste management organisations and regulators, both in the UK and overseas.
  • Analyse problems and develop solutions.
  • Develop radioactive waste management strategies, including consideration of the most appropriate method for treatment and/or disposal, and high-level strategic studies to support and underpin decision-making at different stages of the radioactive waste lifecycle.
  • Assess different options using recognised approaches such as BAT and BPEO.
  • Review and assimilate numerical data and information, including characterisation data and radionuclide inventories.
  • Consider approaches for radioactive waste conditioning and packaging.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports on the outcome of your work.
  • Interact with and present results to customers and stakeholders, including facilitation and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Engage in business development activities.
  • Deliver work to agreed timescales and cost.
Qualifications
  • Degree in a physical science or engineering discipline or equivalent training and experience.
  • Experience in radioactive waste management.
  • Good technical writing skills.
  • Flexible, innovative and keen to develop skills.
  • Adaptable, able to work on a number of varied projects at the same time, prioritising as appropriate.
  • Able to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Enthusiasm to apply skills to the solution of real-world problems.
