Join Amentum’s Subsurface Solutions team in the Earth and Environmental Operations Area. This hybrid role involves field data acquisition, advanced processing, technical reporting, and team collaboration across engineering, geology, and environmental disciplines. You will support projects in defence, energy and environmental sectors and contribute to bid preparation, project management and technical planning.
What You’ll Do
- Field Data Acquisition: Lead and support geophysical surveys using ERI, GPR, EM, HVSR and other in‑house equipment. Provide field supervision for third‑party surveys such as MASW, 2D reflection/refraction, wireline, cross‑hole seismic and near‑shore marine surveys (offshore certification provided).
- Site Investigation: Assist in designing survey programmes to identify subsurface risks (voids, utilities, bedrock depth). Integrate findings with geotechnical and geoenvironmental teams for intrusive investigations.
- Data Processing & Interpretation: Use Res2DInv, Geolitix, IHS Kingdom and other software to process raw data into actionable models. Conduct structural analysis and fault mapping using geophysical, borehole, and field data.
- Reporting: Prepare technical reports with high‑quality visualisations and clear recommendations.
- Safety & Logistics: Manage field equipment maintenance and uphold health & safety standards on site.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Degree in Geophysics, Geology, or Civil Engineering (MSc preferred).
- Experience: 2+ years in a commercial engineering or environmental geophysics environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS) and geophysical processing software.
- Field Readiness: Willingness to travel to UK and overseas remote sites, work outdoors in varied weather.
- Licensing: Full, clean driving licence.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills; ability to tailor outputs to stakeholders.
- Other: Strong prioritisation, team working, and autonomous problem‑solving abilities.
