Scope of Responsibilities
- Lead and direct a multi‑disciplinary engineering team to deliver Stage 3 Define phase onwards in line with the project schedule and cost.
- Drive engineering teams to optimise the Stage 2 appraisal, select a single preferred solution, and produce the Stage 3 preliminary design.
- Complete preliminary design assurance activities in line with the agreed Risk‑Based Assurance Strategy.
- Lead multidiscipline teams; estimate, schedule, forecast, and produce agreed design deliverables.
- Manage DSA teams in the production of deliverables.
- Develop safety case(s), attend HAZOPs, support safety assessment, review engineering specifications, and produce substantiation documentation.
- Identify additional resource demand to ensure all deliverables can be originated and checked in accordance with the project schedule.
- Interface with other project discipline leads, engage site clients and stakeholders, and support production of Stage 4 delivery estimate and schedule.
- Contribute to commercial engagement of suppliers in the Define phase and work collaboratively with the full integrated project team.
Qualifications
- Background engineering experience with a record of successful delivery, recent positions influencing professional engineers and guiding technical personnel.
- Significant experience in an engineering design environment where engineering knowledge is a key attribute.
- Proven project delivery across the full project life cycle.
- Recent experience within a regulated and quality‑assured system (preferably nuclear).
- Knowledge of governing laws, regulations and standards for the nuclear industry (Health & Safety at Work Act, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation, etc.).
- Experience with Project System Engineering and the system engineering approach to design.
