About the Opportunity
Location: Bristol (hybrid/remote with 2–3 days per week at client facilities in the South West).
We are looking for experienced Project Controls Managers to help deliver highly complex projects and programmes for our Defence & Security clients.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Oversight of the following activities across programmes and projects in the defence sectors:
- Cost Control
- Planning
- Risk and Issue Management
- Document Control
- Estimating
- Coordination of Change Control
- Governance and Assurance
- Have experience in one of the Project Controls subfunctions or as a Project Controls Manager on large and complex infrastructure and/or equipment projects.
- Know more than one of the Project Controls functions: cost control, estimating, scheduling, change management, risk management.
- Develop a project or programme baseline, manage change, and analyse performance against the baseline.
- Manage a team in a matrix structure and work within a multi‑functional team.
- Manage senior stakeholders and communicate performance of complex projects/programmes, identifying where action is needed.
- Be an accomplished problem solver, focused on deliverables and proactive in supporting clients.
Here’s What You’ll Need
- Strong knowledge of the Defence industry and experience in a high‑profile Tier 1, Prime and/or subcontractor organisation.
- Ability to operate autonomously, with authority, and build relationships.
- Expertise in P3M practices and advanced project controls / management tools.
- Consultancy focus with a proven track record in delivery.
- Skill in coaching and mentoring.
- Degree level or equivalent education in a relevant subject.
- Significant track record of successful project delivery.
- Ideal: APM PPQ qualification.
- Desirable: Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Practitioner.
