This role supports the BIS manager ensuring effective coordination of surveillance activities for the Welding Inspector / source inspector. The BIS coordinator duties are split approximately 50:50 with source inspector responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform in‑house witnessing as required by the supplier.
- Review and execute Inspection and Test Plans to meet programme demand, working to project deadlines and targets.
- Record results for inspections undertaken, highlight non‑conformance and accept or reject finished items as required.
- Act as liaison with Quality Management Leads to ensure appropriate levels of surveillance are deployed and support development of the NNB Surveillance plan.
- Work alongside supplier inspection functions to ensure all contracted requirements have been met.
- Review supplier quality records to allow issuance of quality release certificates, enabling product release to site.
- Perform daily inspections, complete checklists, and produce weekly summary reports.
- Be familiar with Scope of Work, Contract Specifications, appropriate National/International Standards, drawings, and procedures.
- Raise and monitor non‑conformance documentation during source inspection activity.
- Carry out any other inspection duties as requested by and agreed with the BIS Manager.
Resource and Coordination Duties
- Review weekly resource requirements and allocate inspectors to meet surveillance priorities, considering holidays, sickness, and inspector competence.
- Attend a weekly meeting to communicate resource plan and elevate any issues.
- Act as single point of contact for new surveillance requests for the BIS team.
- Provide technical guidance to source inspectors on implementation of BIS management arrangements.
- Coordinate RFT reporting for the BIS team.
- Work with source inspectors to ensure TPRs are completed and up to date.
- Support standard diary contract meetings as required.
