The Balance of Plant Commissioning Engineer will work on the NNB HPC project at Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and other sites. In the early stages you will contribute to detailed planning and preparation, including reviewing contractor‑produced commissioning documentation. You will then execute commissioning tests, conduct surveillance on contractor‑led activities, analyze results, and justify the readiness of HPC units for commercial operation. The role also involves delivering test specifications and safety documentation, performing site testing, resolving problems, ensuring timely delivery of deliverables, and supporting contract partners in review and acceptance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable to the Commissioning Manager in the NNB HPC Project team.
  • Develop and review commissioning documentation, including contractor‑produced testing documents.
  • Contribute to detailed planning and take ownership of a programme of tests.
  • Take part in or lead execution of site commissioning activities, including supervision of contractor personnel.
  • Provide information to assist the Commissioning Manager in meeting project‑level objectives and milestones.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Mechanical & Process Systems with advanced engineering and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficient in ICT, including Excel, Sharepoint, Adobe/Word review & comment functions, and adaptable to other software such as Switch, Fieldview, and Navisworks 3D modelling.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to convey complex information to team members and contractors.
  • Demonstrated delivery focus or track record of successful project delivery.
  • History of working within safety and quality cultures.
  • Advantageous: working knowledge of UK power industry Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules.
  • Minimum: working knowledge of permit‑to‑work and lock‑out/tag‑out systems in heavy industry.
