About the Opportunity We employ the UK's most experienced and skilled technical services professionals, having grown to over 8,000 people across the UK. We are proud to support the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project, the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years. HPC’s two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low‑carbon electricity for 60 years, enough to power around 6 million homes. In addition to the project’s clean‑energy benefits, HPC will create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive an area-based planning framework, integrated with reporting and interdependencies, focused on aligning top‑down/bottom‑up reporting from strategic levels through Level 1 to Level 5.
- Develop and maintain the schedule baseline integrated work schedule (IWS) with fully logic‑linked work plans aligned to the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and utilizing effective techniques.
- Support the Area management organisation to ensure significant risks and opportunities are adequately assessed based on evidence and balanced judgement, underpinning regular, timely and accurate information.
- Enable robust review and challenge of delivery and schedule‑level reporting that impacts overall project‑level strategic delivery.
- Produce and update area planning and schedule reporting for key stakeholders within a defined reporting cycle.
- Drive and challenge strategies for baseline schedule project delivery sequence.
- Continuously develop the planning team approach by capturing and sharing operational experience and learning.
- Analyse and assimilate information to identify key risks and make evidence‑based decisions to drive the planning strategy using a pragmatic and systematic approach.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues within and across organisational boundaries to achieve mutually successful outcomes, in keeping with HPC project values of humility, positivity, respect, solidarity and clarity and the culture of trust, transparency and teamwork.
- Account for the application of the Trend & Change process within the schedule, including project‑level analysis, generating performance indicators, and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunities.
- Integrate all associated supply‑chain schedules and planning data.
- Ensure project scheduling standards and procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure all project documents, in particular sensitive nuclear information, are correctly protectively marked and protected in accordance with EDF policies and procedures.
Education, Experience and Skills
- Minimum of a degree or equivalent in engineering, construction, quantity surveying or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working within a planning team in a complex, highly regulated industry (ideally nuclear or energy), handling active integration management with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience of the practical application of integrated planning frameworks and methodologies, and how they are applied in the strategic and operational management of a major infrastructure project to deliver positive business outcomes.
- Expertise in planning and project controls technology solutions, with experience managing the implementation and effective delivery of complex projects using these solutions.
- Proven experience planning within highly regulated industries and complex projects.
