We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer to join our growing team working on high-quality commercial CAT A & CAT B fit-out projects across the UK ranging from £200k - £3m. The role will involve the design, coordination, and delivery of mechanical building services packages for commercial office refurbishments and fit-outs, ensuring projects are completed to programme, budget, and technical standards.
Responsibilities:
- Design and coordination of mechanical building services systems including HVAC systems, domestic water services, above ground drainage, heating and chilled water pipework, and ventilation systems.
- Production of mechanical drawings, layouts, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Carry out design calculations, equipment sizing, and system selections.
- Coordination with electrical, architectural, and structural disciplines.
- Attend design meetings, site surveys, and client coordination meetings.
- Support projects from concept through to construction and handover.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and project teams.
- Ensure designs comply with current regulations, British Standards, and client specifications.
- Review technical submissions and assist with value engineering where required.
Experience / Fit-Out Experience:
- CAT A Fit-Out Experience: Landlord shell & core upgrades, open-plan office layouts, base build mechanical services, air conditioning and ventilation infrastructure, riser and plant room coordination, BMS integration, ceiling coordination and service routes.
- CAT B Fit-Out Experience: Tenant-specific office fit-outs, meeting rooms and cellular office layouts, fan coil unit modifications, small power and mechanical coordination, kitchenettes and welfare areas, comfort cooling solutions, fast-paced refurbishment programmes.
Requirements:
- Experience within commercial building services design.
- Strong understanding of HVAC and pipework systems.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Site experience beneficial.
Desirable:
- HNC/HND or Degree in Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- BIM/Revit experience.
- Experience working on office refurbishments and commercial fit-outs.
