Padel On is an exciting new padel brand with ambitious plans to expand across the UK.
We're launching our first indoor club in Basildon, featuring four doubles courts, two singles courts, a café, retail space and a vibrant social environment.
We're looking for an enthusiastic, commercially minded Founding General Manager to lead our club from day one.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced manager to help build a new business, shape its culture and grow alongside us.
The Role
As General Manager, you'll take ownership of the club's daily operations, team management, commercial performance and customer experience.
We're looking for a confident, hands-on leader who can motivate a team, drive business growth and create an exceptional environment for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Club Operations: Oversee the smooth daily running of the club, including courts, café, retail and facilities.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, motivate and manage staff, including rotas and performance management.
- Commercial Performance: Drive court occupancy, revenue growth and profitability while managing budgets and operational costs.
- Customer Experience: Deliver outstanding customer service, resolve issues and maintain a welcoming environment.
- Community Engagement: Support the delivery of tournaments, social events, coaching programmes and local partnerships.
- Business Development: Identify new commercial opportunities, corporate bookings and ways to attract and retain customers.
- Health & Safety: Maintain high standards of cleanliness, maintenance, safety and regulatory compliance.
- Performance Reporting: Monitor key business metrics and report directly to the founders.
About You
You don't need experience in padel or even the sports industry. We're looking for an excellent manager first and foremost.
We welcome applications from experienced managers across a range of industries, including hospitality, retail, fitness, leisure, entertainment and other customer-facing businesses.
What we're looking for:
- Proven management experience, ideally overseeing a team and day-to-day business operations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Commercial awareness, including experience managing budgets, driving sales and controlling costs.
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and the confidence to take ownership.
- A passion for delivering excellent customer experiences.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.
Experience in padel, sports management or events would be an advantage, but is not essential.
