Turn aerodynamic ideas into performance! We’re looking for a talented Design Engineer with experience in Formula 1 or motorsport aerodynamic surfacing to help develop high-quality aerodynamic geometry for CFD, wind tunnel testing and race car development.
Working closely with Aerodynamicists and other engineering specialists, you’ll translate aerodynamic concepts into accurate, high-quality surface models that support the ongoing development of our car. This is an opportunity to make a direct contribution to car performance, working alongside talented engineers to develop aerodynamic solutions that help drive Aston Martin Aramco’s ambition to challenge at the front of the grid.
Please note: We have opportunities at multiple levels and welcome applications from Engineer, Senior Engineer and Lead Engineer candidates. The role and responsibilities will be tailored to reflect your experience and level of expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver aerodynamic surfacing projects from concept through to release, including modelling, validation and documentation.
- Develop accurate, high-quality surface models for CFD, wind tunnel testing and race car application.
- Work closely with Aerodynamicists to develop design concepts and contribute to aerodynamic development strategies.
- Support aero development programmes, identifying opportunities to improve model quality, accuracy and test efficiency.
- Contribute to parametric modelling strategies, surfacing methodologies and continuous improvement of design tools and workflows.
- Identify technical risks and design opportunities, communicating progress and solutions to senior designers.
- Apply sound engineering judgement to ensure designs meet technical requirements, quality standards and programme deadlines.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong 3D CAD and surface modelling skills, ideally including CATIA.
- Experience in Formula 1 or motorsport aerodynamic surfacing, ideally supporting wind tunnel, CFD or race car development programmes.
- A strong understanding of aerodynamic development and the interfaces between surfacing, CFD and wind tunnel testing.
- Familiarity with FIA technical regulations and legality requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work under pressure.
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- A proactive, adaptable mindset with a genuine interest in aerodynamic performance and continuous improvement.
Make an impact:
At Aston Martin Aramco, you’ll work alongside experienced Aerodynamicists and engineers, contributing directly to the development of our car. Your surfacing expertise will help turn aerodynamic concepts into geometry that can be developed, tested and refined in pursuit of improved performance.
It’s an opportunity to take ownership of meaningful projects, develop your technical expertise and play your part in our ambition to challenge at the front of the grid. If you have the surfacing expertise, motorsport experience and drive to help us move forward, we’d like to hear from you.
Benefits:
Investing in your career is paramount. We promote professional and personal development through a provision of learning opportunities and work with you to shape your career and realise your full potential. As part of our high-performing, collaborative team, you'll enjoy a competitive package, including a discretionary bonus scheme, private healthcare, pension plan, life assurance, TEDSgroup childcare benefits, a cycle-to-work scheme, tech scheme, and car scheme.
You will also have access to our state-of-the-art facilities at the AMR Technology Campus, featuring a new on-site gym with fitness, spin and yoga classes, a bistro café, and restaurant.
