What do we do?
Paddle offers SaaS companies a completely different approach to their payments infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers. That means we take away 100% of the pain of payments fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better.
We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 5000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.
The Role:
As Product Compliance & Risk Manager, you’ll be embedded with Paddle’s Product and Commercial teams, acting as a trusted partner on product design, seller flows, and compliance requirements. You’ll ensure Paddle’s products and commercial propositions are compliant by design, translating regulations and scheme rules into clear business requirements and ensure risks are identified and managed in an appropriate manner.
You will also take ownership of remediation of known compliance issues, building policies, guidance, and seller communications that create consistency and reduce risk and be responsible for embedding risk management practices such as RCSAs and control testing, giving the business deeper visibility of control effectiveness.
This role reports to the Compliance & Risk Lead and sits within the Legal & Compliance team, partnering closely with Legal, Sales, Operations, and Product.
What you’ll do
-
Provide compliance advisory to Product and Sales on new features, ensuring compliance by design.
-
Own product risk assessments across the development lifecycle, making sure risks are identified, documented, and mitigated before launch.
-
Lead compliance workstreams in product or seller remediation initiatives (e.g. subscription flows, refund policy updates).
-
Draft and maintain policies relevant to product and commercial compliance (subscription/negative option rules, scheme disclosures, seller comms).
-
Support development of seller communications and guidance docs, ensuring requirements are clear and consistent.
-
Manage incidents and issues in the product/commercial domain, escalating high-risk cases to your Lead.
-
Develop and maintain obligation mapping for scheme and product-related requirements, working with Legal to identify applicable regulation.
-
Support regulatory change implementation, embedding new requirements into policies and product controls.
-
Over time, contribute to risk management activities (RCSAs, control testing, documenting control effectiveness).
We’d love to hear from you if…
-
You bring 7+ years’ experience in compliance, risk, or regulatory advisory, ideally in payments, fintech, or SaaS.
-
You have strong expertise in consumer protection, card scheme rules or payments regulation
-
You’re confident in drafting policies, guidance, and compliance frameworks that stand up to regulatory scrutiny.
-
You have run risk assessments on product and commercial initiatives, providing clear recommendations to stakeholders.
-
You have experience in cross-functional project delivery, especially remediation or regulatory change.
-
You’re a strong communicator, able to simplify regulatory requirements for Product, Sales, and senior leadership.
-
You’re detail-oriented, data-driven, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-growth environment.
-
You’re a builder at heart — able to set up processes, policies, and frameworks from scratch in a scaling environment.
