Job Description
Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Location: London W2
Contract Type: Permanent, full time, fully site based
About us
Together Paddington Works (commercial) offers co-working, studios, meeting room and event space across two locations in west London – Paddington Works and Porchester Works. We’ve designed advanced workspaces equipped to support health and well-being. We have seriously considered our physical, emotional, and cognitive health where every detail of our environment is constantly appraised and always improving. We believe these factors are essential to our overall performance and well-being. We also own and manage 10 residential flats, including 4 premium apartments, above and next to Porchester Works, which fall within the scope of the role.
About the role
We are looking for a reliable and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our property and coworking operations team. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that our buildings, coworking spaces, and facilities are maintained to the highest standard — creating a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for all members, residents, and staff.
This is a hands-on role covering both reactive and planned maintenance across multiple sites, supporting the day-to-day operation of HVAC, lighting, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building fabric.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across our commercial and residential properties.
- Undertake general building fabric maintenance, including painting, decorating, gardening, clearing, deep cleaning and repairs.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, plumbing, and HVAC faults to minimise disruption to tenants and members.
- Monitor and maintain building systems such as fire alarms, intruder alarms, access control, lighting, and heating/cooling equipment.
- Work closely with the facilities and operations teams and third parties to ensure all spaces remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.
- Liaise with external contractors and suppliers when specialist support is required, ensuring quality and value for money.
- Complete maintenance logs, inspection reports, regular testing and statutory checks accurately and on time.
- Create and maintain an inventory of spares and accessories.
- Support office moves, refurbishments, and fit-out projects across both the residential and commercial as needed.
- Promote a strong health, safety, and compliance culture across all sites.
Key Skills & Experience
- Time-served apprenticeship or qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Building Services, Electrical, or Mechanical Maintenance).
- Previous experience in property, facilities management, or coworking environments.
- Competent across multiple trades (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or mechanical).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to assess issues quickly and work independently.
- Strong communication skills with a customer-first mindset.
- Understanding of building compliance standards (e.g. fire safety, water hygiene, PAT testing).
