Paddington Academy is a mixed Academy for 1,200 students aged 11-18. The Academy was judged to be outstanding by OFSTED in 2011 and was described by the Education Minister as a "jewel in the crown of state education". Our thriving and oversubscribed academy also has a large Sixth Form with over 300 students, and we have consistently been in the top 10 schools for student progress for the last six years. Responsibilities
- To support the academic achievement and social development of students within the key stage.
- To be a highly visible presence around the academy and to manage student behaviour in a positive, persistent and relentless manner and to be an outstanding role model to young people.
- To set and maintain high standards of attendance, punctuality, uniform, behaviour and manners amongst all students.
- Be on duty at the start of the school day, break, lunch and after school.
- To support high attendance by making daily absence calls and being effective in getting absent students into school at the earliest possible opportunity.
- Visit classrooms every lesson, every day to support students and staff.
- To make ‘second warning’ phone calls to parents for students to avoid students being referred to reflection.
- To support in detentions after school in ensuring high standards and contact parents.
- To be an authority figure and to correct standards and give detentions.
- To know every student by name and to know important information which is used to support students.
- To assist with investigating incidents effectively.
- To maintain excellent communication with parents and to work as part of a pastoral team to support students.
- Support identified groups and individuals and enable them to be successful in the classroom.
- Work with external agencies and partners to support students.
- To fulfil all safeguarding functions and responsibilities and to read and report on CPOMS every day.
- To carry out any additional duties as directed by the Head of Year or Vice Principal.
- Support Academy events such as parents' evenings and interviews as required.
