About Pact Coffee

At Pact, we're obsessed with incredible coffee. We seek out the world's best coffee growers, farmers whose skill and dedication produce coffees of rare quality. Our role is to honour that work, by roasting with precision, making every step effortless for our customers, and holding ourselves to the same uncompromising standards. We want every cup to reflect the care of the grower, the rigour of our team, and the unmistakable pleasure of coffee at its best. As a proud B Corp, we're committed to doing business the right way. That means we're held to account - for how we trade, how we treat people, and how we treat the land we use.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Operations Manager to help us run and continually improve our Roastery in Haslemere. This is a hands-on role for someone with a strong manufacturing or production background. You'll bring practical manufacturing expertise to improve how we operate, with particular responsibility for Health & Safety, site SOPs, operational standards, equipment reliability and continuous improvement. Working across Production, Coffee Roasting and Procurement & Inventory, you'll identify risks and opportunities, solve operational problems and lead practical improvements.

What You'll Do

  • Own Health & Safety, through maintaining and developing H&S standards across the Roastery, ensuring risks are identified, controlled and effectively managed.
  • Manage SOPs and operational standards: Own the site SOP framework, including creating, reviewing and updating procedures to ensure safe, consistent and effective ways of working.
  • Improve how we operate using your manufacturing experience to identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, efficiency and ways of working.
  • Investigate recurring operational issues, identify root causes and implement practical, lasting solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement and lead agreed improvement projects across Operations and work with teams to implement and sustain improvements.
  • Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and equipment reliability, managing the operations coordinator and external contractors to ensure maintenance is planned, completed effectively and recurring issues are addressed.
  • Support change and development with practical manufacturing expertise when introducing new equipment, products, processes or ways of working.
  • Maintain operational and food safety standards and manage our HACCP, GMP and BRCGS compliance to ensure operational processes and controls remain effective and audit-ready.
  • Work across Operations and partner with the management team to improve standards, reliability and performance, providing manufacturing support where needed.

  • Proven experience identifying problems, finding root causes and delivering practical continuous improvements.
  • A hands-on approach to resolving operational, process and equipment issues.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and influence people without direct authority.
