About Packamama

Packamama is a climate tech company reimagining wine packaging for a low-carbon future. Our award-winning circular polymer packaging is already used by some of the world’s leading wine brands and retailers. We’re addressing growing consumer and industry demand for more sustainable packaging solutions in the wine industry. As we continue to scale, we are entering an exciting and commercially critical phase of growth balancing long-term innovation with near-term supply expansion to accelerate customer adoption, revenue growth, and product portfolio expansion.

The Role

We are seeking an Innovation Executive to help drive both product innovation and strategic supply development across Packamama. Alongside developing next-generation packaging formats, materials, and technical trials, you will play a key role in identifying, progressing, and structuring new supply opportunities that expand the range of products available to our business customers. You’ll work across innovation, sourcing, technical delivery, and partner collaboration, helping to bridge design, materials science, manufacturing, and commercial execution. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, enjoys solving complex technical and operational challenges, is self-starting and proactive in approach, and wants to make a measurable impact within a mission-led sustainability business.

What You’ll Do

  • Innovation & Product Development
  • Drive and deliver high-impact technical projects, including new packaging formats, material development (including biobased and biodegradable solutions), and process improvements.
  • Explore emerging materials and additives, novel design aesthetics, and next-generation packaging technologies.
  • Plan and execute technical trials with manufacturing and supply chain partners.
  • Analyse product performance data and translate findings into actionable recommendations and consumer-facing documentation.
  • Research and evaluate new product development opportunities, including collaboration with academic and technical partners.
  • Maintain structured, well-documented records from concept through to commercial or production handover.
  • Supply & Commercial Readiness
    • Support the development and expansion of Packamama’s global supply network across key regions including the UK, Europe, Australia, and South Africa.
    • Identify and progress new supply opportunities and adjacent product formats aligned with commercial demand.
    • Work closely with manufacturing partners and suppliers to assess technical feasibility, tooling availability, readiness, and scalability.
    • Support commercial teams by increasing the number of viable packaging solutions available for customer opportunities.
    • Help structure supplier options, coordinate technical information, and support partner negotiations.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to prioritise near-term supply opportunities while supporting longer-term innovation goals.

    What You’ll Bring

    • A degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Packaging Technology, or a related STEM discipline.
    • Strong understanding of polymer and packaging material properties.
    • Proven analytical skills and a practical, problem-solving mindset.
    • Experience in hands-on product testing, technical trials, pilot-scale operations, or manufacturing environments.
    • Ability to manage multiple technical and commercial priorities simultaneously.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Strong organisational and documentation skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
    • A collaborative approach and willingness to work across technical, operational, and commercial teams.
    • Passion for sustainability, circular economy principles, and real-world recyclability.
    • Experience using AI tools (e.g. LLMs) to accelerate workflows, enhance analysis, and improve the quality of outputs, with a proactive approach to adopting new technologies.

    Nice to Have

    • Experience within packaging, manufacturing, product engineering, or FMCG / CPG environments.
    • Familiarity with polymer processing techniques or wine/food contact chemistry.
    • Exposure to supplier management, sourcing, or manufacturing scale-up projects.
    • Experience working with sustainability assessments or life cycle analysis (LCA) frameworks.
    • Experience working with international manufacturing or supply partners.

    What We Offer

    • A pivotal, hands-on role in a mission-led climate tech company.
    • The opportunity to shape both the technical innovation and commercial supply capability of a growing sustainability business.
    • Exposure to global manufacturing partners, cutting-edge sustainable packaging technologies, and high-growth commercial projects.
    • A collaborative, entrepreneurial culture where ideas move quickly into action.
    • Mentorship and learning opportunities across innovation, manufacturing, and commercial functions.
    • Access to a vibrant sustainability-focused workspace in London.
    • The chance to make a meaningful impact on reducing carbon emissions and packaging waste within the wine industry.
