Role Summary
As a member of the Chartering team, the Parcel Manager is responsible for driving commercial performance across the Company’s Handysize and Supramax fleets, with a particular focus on bulk parcel and project cargo activities originating in the Atlantic basin. The role involves active cargo origination, market trading, voyage optimisation and close collaboration with internal stakeholders to maximise fleet earnings while ensuring safe, compliant and efficient execution.
Internal Stakeholders: Operations and Technical Team
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute profitable chartering strategies for bulk parcel and project cargo shipments, ensuring safe and efficient cargo handling while maximising commercial returns on cargoes originating in the Atlantic basin.
- Build, maintain and expand strong commercial relationships with parcel and project shippers, traders, freight forwarders and brokers to generate sustainable cargo flow and new business opportunities.
- Actively originate and secure cargoes for the fleet and/or trade against market tonnage to deliver consistent margins; operating across Lines of Business (LOBs) as an overlay function to identify and execute value‑enhancing regional opportunities.
- Maximise earnings across the owned and controlled fleet through disciplined voyage optimisation, cargo selection and market timing, including the strategic use of third‑party tonnage where appropriate.
- Continuously analyse freight markets, cargo flows and supply‑demand dynamics to develop clear, insight‑driven trading and pricing strategies.
- Work closely with Operations and Technical teams to ensure strong voyage execution, minimise operational and commercial risks, and deliver a consistently high level of service to customers.
- Take full commercial and financial responsibility for fixtures, voyage performance and contracts, including negotiating robust and protective charter party terms.
- Ensure full compliance with internal policies, contractual obligations and applicable maritime regulations.
- Maintain timely, accurate and transparent reporting of commercial performance, risks, disputes and customer‑related matters.
- Coordinate fleet positioning in close collaboration with regional teams to optimise utilisation, market coverage and exposure.
- Support broader business development initiatives and represent the Company externally; overseas travel may be required.
Skills Capabilities & Qualifications
- Min 3 years’ experience within dry bulk parcel or project markets, primarily within Atlantic basin.
- Familiarity with bulk parcel shippers, traders, charterers, and brokers.
- Proven experience executing & understanding of bulk parcel cargo flows.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relative liquidity within bulk parcel markets.
- Comfortable taking risk, alongside a creative and detailed orientated approach to building parcel shipments.
- Deck cargo experience within windmill / blade sector that is also a desirable attribute.
Attributes / Personality:
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Experience with dry bulk shipping software such as IMOS and Shipfix.
