Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor - £8m Commercial Refurbishment
Freelance contract | 12 months | Site-based
An established construction business is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to take commercial ownership of an £8m commercial refurbishment project.
This is a hands‑on role covering pre‑construction through to completion, with significant externals, roofing, façade and refurbishment works alongside CAT A office fit‑out.
Key responsibilities:
- Review designs and existing conditions to establish the required scope of works.
- Build accurate budgets and costs during the pre‑construction phase.
- Take full commercial control once the project moves into construction.
- Prepare tender packages and assess subcontractor returns.
- Select and recommend subcontractors and place purchase orders.
- Manage variations, valuations, payments and cost reporting.
- Review and administer the main contract.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and wider site team.
Experience required:
- Senior QS / Commercial Manager background within construction.
- Strong commercial refurbishment and externals experience.
- Proven knowledge of roofing, façades and building construction.
- D&B commercial office / CAT A fit‑out experience.
- Comfortable being fully site‑based and owning the project commercially.
