A well-established, medium-sized contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of construction, refurbishment and fit-out projects across multiple sectors is seeking an experienced Managing Estimator to lead its pre-construction and estimating function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and submission of competitive, accurate tenders across traditional and Design & Build projects.
  • Review tender documentation, identify commercial and contractual risks, and develop robust pricing strategies.
  • Produce detailed take-offs, cost plans and Bills of Quantities.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier enquiry processes, analyse quotations and agree final package selections.
  • Undertake site visits to assess project constraints and incorporate findings into tender submissions.
  • Work closely with operational teams to establish construction methodologies, programmes and prelim allowances.
  • Present tender proposals at internal adjudication meetings and implement agreed commercial adjustments.
  • Support post-tender negotiations, value engineering exercises and client meetings.
  • Lead project handovers to delivery teams, ensuring all commercial and technical information is effectively transferred.
  • Review and challenge estimates prepared by others, maintaining quality and consistency across submissions.
  • Mentor and support junior estimators, contributing to the development of the estimating team.
  • Produce regular reporting on tender activity, outcomes and pipeline performance.
