BUYER – HOUSING CONSTRUCTION – ROYSTON
A genuinely fantastic opportunity for a Buyer or Senior Buyer to join a new residential developer in Royston. The Buyer will be office based with some flexibility overseeing new build housing projects units across the region.
Salary £45k to £70k depending on experience along with package.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the procurement of plant and materials for our residential developments.
- Help issue accurate purchase orders and enquiries using our internal systems.
- Track requisitions against buying schedules and report delays or issues.
- Liaise with suppliers and maintain positive working relationships.
- Work with Commercial, Technical, Accounts and Construction teams to align procurement activity with programme needs.
- Compiling monthly CVR\’s, budget reviews, cost comparisons, replacement orders, waste report and procurement reports
- Help maintain procurement data, compliance checks and invoice reconciliation
- Contribute to new procurement initiatives, including bulk buying and supply chain engagement.
- Resolve on-site issues quickly and effectively.

- Deal with telephone calls to/from suppliers
- Issue drawings to various suppliers for quotations
- You will be responsible for requesting quotations from suppliers for sites to obtain best price
- Assist with invoice and order queries
- Carry out monthly site visits
- Raise office and Sales and Marketing orders
- Rebate Administrative ticking processes where appropriate
- Customer Care orders/tracker
Essential Skills, Qualities and Experience
- A qualification in procurement, construction, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good MS Office suite & COINS skills and confidence using procurement platforms
- Clear communication skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues
- Commercial awareness and the ability to prioritise under pressure
- A 5+ years proven background in new build housing buying preferable.
- Proven ability to manage projects and deliver quality work on time, within budget.
- Able to work as part of a team as well as autonomously.
- Thorough, with strong attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of UK construction materials and suppliers.
- Strong Time management skills with an ability to prioritise.
- Ability to communicate well with individuals at all levels.
