Rate: £350 – £420 per day (DOE)

The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Site Engineer to support the delivery of rail civils projects across multiple frameworks. This role will focus heavily on drainage and earthworks packages, working within live rail environments. This is a great opportunity to join a growing delivery team on long-term secured works, with consistent workload and strong project pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting out and surveying for earthworks and drainage packages
- Managing and mentoring Site Engineers and junior staff
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with design, programme, and rail standards
- Producing and reviewing ITPs, QA documentation, and as-built records
- Coordinating with site teams, subcontractors, and project management
- Supporting planning and sequencing of works within possession constraints
- Carrying out quality checks and ensuring compliance with specifications
- Liaising with clients and stakeholders, including Network Rail and framework partners
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Site Engineer within rail environments
- Strong background in earthworks and drainage
- Competent using Leica / Trimble Total Station & GPS equipment
- Experience producing QA documentation (ITPs, check sheets, as-builts)
- Ability to lead engineering activities on site
- Good understanding of rail standards and safety requirements
Certifications
- PTS (Personal Track Safety) – Essential - Training can be provided
- CSCS Card – Essential
- SMSTS / SSSTS – Desirable
- Relevant Engineering Qualification (HNC / Degree) – Desirable
