Job Summary: Our client is looking for an experienced P6 Planning Engineer to join their team, supporting the delivery of critical Defence projects in the UK. This role will involve working closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standards. You will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining project schedules using Primavera P6, working on a variety of complex, high-profile Defence projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Collaborate with project teams to define project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and propose mitigation plans.
  • Prepare and present regular project reports, including schedule updates and analysis of potential risks.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure project requirements and constraints are reflected in the schedule.
  • Conduct schedule risk analysis and provide insights to improve project delivery.
  • Support project teams in tracking resources, budgets, and timelines.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and other third parties to ensure alignment on project schedules.
  • Provide support during project reviews and audits, ensuring compliance with contract and Defence standards.
  • Assist with the preparation of project documentation and the development of progress reports for senior management and clients.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Planning Engineer, ideally in Defence or similar highly regulated sectors.
  • Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 for project planning and scheduling.
  • Solid understanding of project control and scheduling best practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify risks and issues in project schedules.
  • Experience working with Defence clients, contractors, and suppliers.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working on MOD (Ministry of Defence) projects.
  • Familiarity with Defence project lifecycle, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and other project performance tracking methods.

Specific Projects:

  • The role could involve working on projects with high-profile Defence clients, including:
  • Sizewell C – London only and Suffolk as well
  • Devonport – Defence Shipyard – once a month in Plymouth
  • Ministry of Defence (MOD) -Bristol
  • Rolls Royce – Derby 3 days a week
  • Ministry of Justice – London
  • Energy Renewables working on SSE projects and various EPC roles
