They are currently seeking a strategic Regional Planning Manager to lead their planning function across the West of Ireland.

The Role

The Regional Planning Manager will lead the planning function within an assigned geographical area, overseeing programme development, monitoring, and reporting across both pre-construction and live construction phases. This is a senior leadership role designed to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance in planning outputs while supporting Regional Directors in achieving successful project delivery. You will also provide mentorship and leadership to the regional planning team, driving innovation and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the regional planning team, establishing quality standards and ensuring consistency in all planning documents and formats.
  • Programme Development: Oversee the development of baseline contract programmes, including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Risk Management: Support regional leadership in assessing programme risks at the bid stage and advise on mitigation strategies.
  • Pre-Construction & Tendering: Review and validate target programmes and subcontractor tender events to ensure accuracy and achievability.
  • Digital Construction: Coordinate the development of 4D models and/or 2D phasing plans to support modern project delivery.
  • Progress & Reporting: Consolidate and validate output rates to track live project progress; report performance and risks to Regional Directors on a regular basis.
  • Supply Chain Engagement: Work closely with supply chain partners to validate design deliverables, lead-in times, and labor/plant requirements.
  • Team Development: Conduct performance reviews for the regional planning team, ensuring professional growth and identifying training needs.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline (equivalent professional experience will be considered).
  • Software Expertise: Advanced proficiency and certification in planning software such as ASTA Powerproject or Primavera P6.
  • Experience: Proven track record in a senior planning role within a main contracting environment, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Desirable:

  • Professional membership (e.g., CIOB, ICE, APM).
  • Advanced training in progress analysis, S-curve reporting, and cost/resource management.
  • Experience with BIM, Synchro, and collaborative Common Data Environments (CDE).
  • Strong leadership, people management, and presentation skills.
