About the role.

We are looking for a talented multimedia journalist with a strong news sense and a passion for visual storytelling to join our team as a Visual Journalist, based in the West of England. This is an exciting and varied role, ideal for a someone with strong video skills.

You’ll cover a wide range of events across the West of England and Wales, combining traditional newsgathering with filming, editing, live streaming and some photography. You will be expected deliver compelling video packages that enhance our storytelling and also provide copy where required.

This role is ideally suited to someone who thrives in a multimedia environment and can confidently switch between shooting content and writing where required.

Key responsibilities.

  • Film and edit high-quality video using tools such as Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Deliver engaging video packages and quick-turnaround clips for live or digital use.
  • Write accurate and legally sound copy when required.
  • Capture compelling still images to complement stories, when required.
  • Liaise with PA editors and PA customers to ensure content meets editorial and technical expectations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Video, Pictures and Editorial teams.

What you will need.

  • Excellent filming and video editing skills.
  • A strong news sense and understanding of the media landscape.
  • Photography skills and knowledge of image editing (desirable but not essential).
  • NCTJ qualification or equivalent and a solid grasp of media law and journalistic best practices.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends where required.
  • A full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.
