Senior Account Manager in Paddington

Senior Account Manager in Paddington

Paddington Full-Time On-site
PA Media Group

About us

Hydrogen is the Communications division of The PA. We create high-quality content for the PR and marketing industry, backed by the distribution power of the PA newswire.

Our creative and social teams combine editorial expertise, insight and deep platform knowledge to help organisations connect with their audiences and make an impact.

As part of The PA, we share a wider ambition: to be a beacon of trust for news, content and data. We believe trusted, effective communication can build greater understanding, connection and influence.

About the role.

Mediapoint, our media intelligence platform, is part of Hydrogen’s offering.

We’re looking for an experienced and highly organised Senior Account Manager to join our Mediapoint team, managing a varied portfolio of clients and helping them make the most of opportunities across the news agenda.

This is account management with a distinctly editorial edge. You’ll be a senior day-to-day contact for clients, managing their corporate commentary and working closely with colleagues across Mediapoint and The PA newsroom to make sure contributions are timely, relevant and add genuine value to developing stories.

You’ll need to understand what clients are trying to achieve while also knowing what works editorially – spotting opportunities, challenging or strengthening commentary where needed and helping clients contribute credibly to the conversations that matter.

It’s a fast-moving role for someone who combines excellent client management with strong editorial instincts, commercial awareness and the ability to keep multiple accounts moving at pace.

What you’ll be doing

  • Act as the senior day-to-day contact across a portfolio of key client accounts.
  • Manage activity from the initial receipt of client commentary through to delivery, coverage and reporting.
  • Work between clients, Mediapoint and colleagues across The PA newsroom to keep activity moving.
  • Horizon-scan the PA newswire and wider news agenda to identify relevant opportunities for clients.
  • Write accurate news copy and make editorial adjustments to commentary at newsroom pace.
  • Challenge and strengthen client contributions where needed, identifying opportunities to improve the editorial or creative proposition.
  • Work closely with editorial colleagues to understand how stories are developing and where opportunities for coverage may exist.
  • Keep clients informed, communicating opportunities, progress or issues quickly and clearly.
  • Turn coverage and editorial output into meaningful client reporting.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts through new ideas, services and campaigns.

What we’re looking for

First and foremost, you’ll be an experienced account manager who can build trusted client relationships while operating confidently in a fast-moving, editorial environment.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong account management experience within PR, marketing, media, content, publishing or a related environment, ideally at Senior Account Manager level or equivalent.
  • Experience managing clients and activity from activation through to delivery.
  • A strong understanding of PR, earned media and the UK media landscape.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to keep multiple accounts and priorities moving at once.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence working directly with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines without losing sight of accuracy or detail.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of what makes a successful, long-term client relationship.
  • A proactive approach and the confidence to solve problems rather than simply identify them.
  • Experience working alongside journalists, editors, creative teams or within a newsroom environment would be a real advantage.

Why join us?

  • Combine account management with the world of news – work closely with clients and The PA newsroom to turn corporate expertise into timely, relevant contributions to the news agenda.
  • Make a real impact for your clients – spot opportunities, strengthen their commentary and help them become part of the conversations that matter.
  • Be part of The PA – work within a communications business backed by more than 150 years of trusted journalism.
  • Hybrid, flexible working with a minimum of 3 days a week in our Paddington office.
  • 25 days’ holiday plus options to purchase more, alongside enhanced family leave.
  • Life assurance at 4x salary.
  • Wellbeing and volunteering days to support you inside and outside of work.
