Our Racing team provides authoritative coverage of the sport, from breaking news and race reports to analysis, interviews and tipping content. Our journalism is relied upon by media outlets, betting partners and racing fans across multiple platforms.
We’re looking for a knowledgeable and driven Racing Editorial Writer to join our Racing team. This is a fast‑paced reporting role for someone who lives and breathes horse racing. You’ll attend race meetings as required, reporting on events, interviewing trainers, jockeys, owners and other industry figures, and producing accurate, engaging copy to tight deadlines. You’ll play a key role in delivering breaking news, race reports and tipping content for a wide range of clients and audiences. As well as writing stories, you’ll edit and enhance copy, help select imagery, and tailor content for different platforms including bespoke editorial products and social media. Working closely with colleagues across the Racing team, you’ll need to react quickly to developments in the sport while maintaining the accuracy, authority and editorial standards PA is known for.

What you’ll need:
- Outstanding knowledge of horse racing and the wider racing industry
- The ability to produce fast, accurate and engaging copy under pressure
- Confidence conducting interviews with trainers, jockeys, owners and industry figures
- Strong editorial judgement and sub‑editing skills
- Excellent time‑management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Organise your workload and work independently when required
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
Nice to have:
- Previous journalism experience with a regional or national media outlet
- Experience covering other sports alongside horse racing
- Video training or multimedia journalism experience
- Experience managing projects or helping organise editorial workflows
