Who we are. PA Media Assignments is the commercial photography and video arm of PA Media – the national news agency for the UK and Ireland. We specialise in producing editorially sharp visual content for brands, PR agencies, charities and corporates, distributing it through PA’s powerful media network. No two days are the same. One day you might be filming on the Southbank in London, the next covering a launch on the French Riviera. We work with global brands including Coca-Cola, Guinness World Records, Samsung, Google, Amazon and Uber. This is not a news-gathering role and is not based in PA’s news team.

About the role. We are looking for a versatile Camera Operator & Editor to join our commercial video and photography team on a full-time basis. Based in our Paddington office with regular travel, this role combines hands‑on filming, fast turnaround editing and pre‑production support. You’ll work closely with experienced producers, editors and creatives, always with a producer on shoots, and play a key role in delivering high‑quality video content under pressure. You’ll need a strong eye for storytelling, confidence with camera and sound, and the ability to adapt quickly to different briefs, locations and clients.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Shooting & production: Filming events, PR stunts, interviews, branded content, b‑roll, corporate and studio‑based shoots; Shooting social‑first vertical video as well as traditional widescreen formats; Operating Sony camera systems (including FX‑6); Setting up lighting for interviews and location shoots; Capturing clean audio using lavs, shotguns and recorders; Working as part of a small crew, or within larger multi‑camera teams on bigger events.
  • Post‑production & editing: Ingesting, backing up and organising footage; Editing fast‑turnaround packages, b‑roll reels, campaign films and social cutdowns; Delivering multiple versions per brief (hero edits, b‑roll packages, social formats); Adding captions, subtitles, basic motion graphics and branding; Mixing audio and applying colour correction to a broadcast‑ready standard; Exporting and quality‑checking content to platform and distribution specs.
  • Pre‑production & admin: Reading briefs and contributing to shot lists and basic treatments; Preparing and checking kit ahead of shoots; Supporting producers with logistics, locations and risk assessments; Booking kit, car hire and completing expenses when required.

What you’ll need:

  • Proven professional experience as both a camera operator and video editor.
  • Strong camera craft and storytelling ability.
  • Confidence filming for both broadcast and social platforms.
  • Solid real‑world lighting and location sound experience.
  • Strong editing skills using Adobe Premiere Pro (CapCut experience an advantage).
  • Ability to work quickly and calmly to tight deadlines.
  • Good understanding of formats, codecs and delivery standards.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work unsocial hours when required.
  • Physical ability to handle camera and lighting equipment.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

It would also be useful to have:

  • Drone experience (or intent to train).
  • Live or near‑live filming experience.
  • After Effects or advanced motion graphics skills.
  • Experience working with PR or marketing teams.
  • International shoot experience.

What you can expect in return: You’ll join a creative, fast‑paced team working on high‑profile campaigns for household‑name brands. We offer a relaxed but professional agency culture, with the support and benefits of a larger organisation. Benefits include:

  • 25 days holiday plus holiday purchase scheme.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay.
  • Wellbeing Day and Volunteering Day.
  • BUPA Health Cash Plan.
  • Life Assurance.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Access to a modern workspace with on‑site gym and rooftop terrace.
