Are you the one who can keep our buildings and our people safe? We’re on the lookout for a skilled and proactive Building Services Testing Officer to join our team. In this role, you’ll be the go-to person for checking and testing PA Housing’s fire safety systems relating to communal equipment. From fire alarms to emergency lighting, you’ll make sure our homes and buildings are safe, compliant, and working exactly as they should.

This role will be primarily onsite and the area you will be covering is mainly South East London with a bit of South West and Croydon. So it's essential you are comfortable driving a van around London. This isn’t just a job; it’s about protecting lives and ensuring residents feel safe where they live.

What’s in it for you:

  • High street discount schemes
  • Health cash plans
  • 26 days annual leave, increasing to 29 after three years, with the opportunity to buy more
  • Flexible bank holidays - take them when it suits you
  • Car leasing scheme

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carrying out regular testing and inspection of fire safety systems relating to communal equipment (e.g. fire alarms, emergency lighting, AOVs, lifts)
  • Recording outcomes on our asset management system (Keystone)
  • Reporting faults, malfunctions, or safety issues found during inspections
  • Raising urgent orders and repairs where required
  • Working with the wider Building Services team to improve consistency and share best practice
  • Highlighting any other concerns observed during site visits

What we’re looking for:

  • Good understanding of fire safety equipment
  • Understanding of Health & Safety requirements in communal buildings
  • Hands-on experience with testing fire alarms and detection systems
  • PA specific equipment training will be provided

If you’ve got the expertise and passion to keep our buildings safe, we’d love to hear from you. Don’t forget to upload any supporting qualifications with your application to show us you’ve got what it takes!

At PA Housing, we believe in respect, integrity, and accountability. Our work is about people - not just properties - and we’re always looking for ways to do better. If that sounds like your kind of place, we’d love to hear from you.

Disclosure and Barring Service: This role requires the successful candidate to complete a standard DBS check. A standard DBS check will show any spent and unspent convictions. This role will be required to visit/support PA Housing residents in their own homes on a regular basis. Therefore, we have a duty to our residents to ensure that we have taken precautions regarding who will be visiting them and representing PA Housing. Having unspent convictions will not necessarily preclude you from being recruited into the role; if you are potentially the successful candidate, we will complete a risk assessment with you to understand the circumstances around your conviction, how relevant they are to the post you have applied for, and what remedial action, if any, you have taken since your conviction. Suitable references will also need to be obtained prior to commencement of employment.

AGENCIES: We know where you are if we need your support so please do not contact us.
