A great opportunity to work in the Prototyping Workshop of a global consultancy company, developing parts for consumer, medical, defence, food & beverage, packaging and many other industries. PA’s Design, Engineering, and Science (DES) function helps clients conceive, build and scale complex physical and digitally connected products. By combining deep scientific expertise, world-class engineering and human-centred design, we support organisations through every stage of innovation, from early concept development and applied R&D through to regulated, real-world deployments at scale.
As part of a globally integrated team of more than 400 specialists across the UK, Ireland and the US, you will work at the intersection of innovation strategy, product development and applied R&D. We partner with organisations ranging from ambitious start-ups to established global leaders across the MedTech, Defence, Consumer, Industrial, Transport and Energy sectors. Our multidisciplinary capabilities span software, electronics, mechanical engineering, industrial design, research and scientific testing, enabling us to transform ideas into scalable commercial realities.
Within this environment, precision machining will be your core skill, giving you the opportunity to program and manufacture components using our range of CNC mills and lathes. Working closely with engineers, scientists and designers, you will also utilise our extensive suite of 3D printing technologies to help bring innovative concepts to life, supporting projects that span multiple sectors and technologies.

Qualifications
We are looking for a technician with strong precision machining experience as a core skill, with the aptitude and desire to develop across our wide range of prototyping equipment. You’ll frequently find yourself working within multi-disciplinary assignment teams where you’ll be expected to share your experience and knowledge of making things happen, so strong and confident communication is key.
- Manual and CNC milling & turning.
- CADCAM experience, preferably Solidworks.
- Enthusiasm to learn and develop 3D printing skills.
- Teams and MS Office competent.
- Confidence in communication at all levels in a multi-disciplinary assignment team.
- Proactive, pragmatic and collaborative approach to problem solving.
Desirable
- 3D printing experience - SLA, DLP, FDM, Polyjet
- EDM machining - wire erosion & die sinking.
- Design & manufacture of test rigs and mould tools.
- Precision assembly.
- Pneumatic/electropneumatic experience.
- Testing, inspection and data collection.
- Injection moulding.
- Modelmaking – resin & silicone casting, vac forming, vac casting.
Full training will be provided to help you succeed in an interesting, challenging and fast-moving environment where you will be working with a range of enthusiastic and experienced engineers, scientists and designers. This role would suit a talented and confident technician looking to further their skills and work on the broadest range of rewarding projects, in an environment where continuous development and a willingness to solve problems and openly share knowledge is the norm.
