We believe in the power of ingenuity to build a positive human future. As strategies, technologies, and innovation collide, we create opportunity from complexity. Our teams of interdisciplinary experts combine innovative thinking and breakthrough technologies to progress further, faster. Our clients adapt and transform, and together we achieve enduring results.
At PA, we design products for our clients and often deliver prototype products as a key deliverable. The quality of these deliverables is hugely important to us, so we are looking for someone who shares our ambition to delight our clients.
You will work with our engineers and senior technicians to help realise our designs. Typically, you will be working with ‘one-offs’ or small prototype runs where the build process is not fully defined, and a diverse range of skills are required to complete the build. Think skilled artisan rather than production line operative. You will gain exposure to a wide range of products across Consumer, Healthcare, Industrial and Defence and Security sectors, each bringing new challenges and learning opportunities. As you become established in the role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the design process – particularly DFM and manufacturing process development.
This role might suit an individual with a background in a CEM or similar manufacturing environment who is looking for a new challenge involving greater variety, or someone who just loves building things.
What we are looking for:
- This is very much a hands-on role, so we are looking for an individual with strong practical skills and outstanding attention to detail.
- Strong experience with assembly techniques and the skills to:
- Assemble novel designs
- Work independently and pro-actively
- Produce process documents and work instructions
- Build wiring looms
- Hand solder
- Stores management
- Management of specialist equipment
- Use common hand tools
- Execute test procedures
- Goods inspection
- Work in an ESD-safe environment
Although the hands-on aspects of the role will dominate, the role will also involve associated tasks such as kitting, producing and contributing to product documentation and shipping. We need a quality-minded individual who can manage an ever-changing workload whilst maintaining a smile on their face.
We are looking for candidates to have demonstrable experience in the listed skills as essential. It is desirable for candidates to have qualifications such as A-Level/HNC standard (or higher) and to possess good English, Maths and IT skills.
A significant proportion of our work is within the defence and security sector so candidates must be willing and able to gain UK security clearance.
