Job Description

Mental Health Team Leader

Location: Armley, Leeds
Salary: £29,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Are you a compassionate and experienced mental health professional ready to lead and inspire a team? P4 Recruitment are working with a client who is looking for a Mental Health Team Leader to join their brand-new residential service in Armley, Leeds. This service will provide a safe and supportive home for men with enduring mental health needs, and were seeking someone who shares a commitment to person-centred, recovery-focused care.

This full-time role follows a four-week rolling rota with varied shifts between 6am and 10pm, Monday to Friday, and includes one Saturday shift per month. While the rota provides structure, some flexibility is required to meet service needs, including occasional shift cover. Adjustments can be considered for the right candidate, but flexibility remains essential.

About the Role

As Team Leader, youll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality, and recovery-focused care. Working closely with the Registered Manager, youll provide day-to-day leadership, mentor staff, promote a positive and inclusive culture, and ensure residents are supported to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the team each day, including training, mentoring, and supervising senior staff

  • Ensure safe, high-quality, person-centred care that meets CQC standards and legal requirements

  • Promote recovery-focused support and keep care plans and documentation up to date

  • Help manage rotas, staffing, and budgets, and support with petty cash and service user finances

  • Oversee health and safety, infection control, incident reporting, and general upkeep of the service

  • Support recruitment, inductions, staff training, appraisals, and day-to-day HR processes

  • Help assess referrals, attend reviews, and maintain good communication with families and professionals

  • Encourage learning and development, promote equality, and support a positive team culture

  • Step in for management when needed and participate in the local on-call rota

Requirements

  • Proven experience supporting individuals with complex mental health needs

  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and organisational skills

  • Knowledge of CQC standards, safeguarding, and clinical governance

  • A recovery-focused mindset and commitment to person-centred care

  • Experience with audits, care planning, and leading a team effectively
