Job Title: Crisis Mental Health Worker
Location: Lincoln

Salary Band: £24,570, Sleep rate is paid at £62.54. On average one per week which is an additional £3000 per year.
Hours: Full time working on a 5 week rolling rota including sleeps.

P4 are currently working with a Charity who specialise in mental health, substance use, and complex needs, offering person-centred, trauma-informed support. Our services include residential care, supported accommodation, floating support, and outreach across the UK. Our mission is to break down barriers to support and help people live lives they value.

Purpose of the Role

As a Frontline Crisis Mental Health Worker, you will support people experiencing acute or ongoing mental health challenges, often alongside complex needs such as trauma, substance use or homelessness. You will offer stabilising, compassionate, and person-centred crisis support, helping people regain control and move towards greater independence. This is a crisis service and will stay for up to 7 days before leaving and then will come under the community Mental Health Team.

Key Responsibilities

Crisis & Mental Health Support

  • Provide de-escalation, grounding techniques and emotional support to those in mental distress.
  • Respond to crisis presentations including suicidal ideation, self-harm, or psychosis using trauma-informed practices.
  • Liaise with crisis teams, GPs, and emergency services where necessary to ensure timely and safe interventions.
  • Support people to manage medication safely in line with policy.
  • Carry out dynamic risk assessments and develop safety plans.

Support for Independence

  • Develop personalised support plans with individuals, focusing on recovery, life goals and independence.
  • Assist with daily living skills including budgeting, hygiene, meal planning, and household management.
  • Provide tenancy support including signposting to benefits, housing advice and move-on planning.
  • Encourage participation in therapeutic, community, and skill-building activities.

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • Compassionate and calm in high-pressure situations
  • Strong understanding of mental health conditions and trauma-informed care
  • Skilled in crisis intervention, de-escalation and grounding techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a shift-based team
  • IT proficient (Word, email, databases)

Desirable Experience

  • At least 2 years in a mental health, supported housing or crisis service
  • Experience working with people in acute distress
  • Knowledge of housing rights, welfare benefits and safeguarding
  • Experience in key working or support planning
