Introduction: P4 Recruitment are working with a client in Ilkeston to find a Childrens Residential Support Worker who is passionate about excellence and providing person-centred care for young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and associated learning difficulties. Hours and shift patterns:
- A combination of early shifts, late shifts and full days with occasional sleep-in duties.
- All positions include working some weekends and bank holidays.
Early: 07:30-15:00
Late: 14:30-22:00 or sleep
Full: 07:30-22:00 or sleep
Daily responsibilities and shift patterns:
- Encourage development of individual interests and attitudes.
- To promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of each young person.
- Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with the young people that will promote their sense of security.
- Provide firm, consistent and fair boundaries in respect of their behaviour and employ appropriate and agreed sanctions.
- Promote the development of a healthy lifestyle for Young People.
- Assist Young People in the development and sustaining of positive social networks with adults and other peer groups.
- To organize and participate in group activities and group holidays.
- Encourage Young People to develop their full educational and vocational attainment.
- Observe and assess the behaviour of Young People.
- To engage in and supervise day to day care practices, creating an accepting environment conducive to the positive personal development of each Young Person.
Essential requirements:
- Currently working in children services with a minimum 6 months experience.
- Holding a valid driving licence is essential/ company carpool available.
Desirable requirements:
- Level 3 diploma in childrens residential care.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service.
- Understanding of Autism/Physical/Emotional/Social Needs of Young People.
