We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Manager to join our prestigious tier 1 client working on a number of high profile and technically complex projects across multiple sectors. ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Project Director, you will provide functional leadership of design management resource on a major project or a smaller cluster of projects within a region or product stream from pre-qualification to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review the current design of all projects and undertake detailed risk and opportunities appraisal to mitigate risk, enhance buildability and add value prior to construction phase.
- In collaboration with the project team, Lead Designer and Consultant Team, produce and manage a realistic design programme and information required schedule, to satisfy design, procurement, and construction requirements.
- Work closely with the Commercial and Operations Teams to ensure all design deliverables are fully coordinated, buildable and within budget. Contribute to technical workshops, value management exercises as required to align expectations in this respect.
- Manage the production of the contractor proposals, ensuring they are complete, unambiguous, have been reviewed by the bid team and have been updated to include all post tender negotiations.
- Manage the design on site with the assistance of other site-based resources by implementing the design management procedure.
- Ensure the project team are working to agreed contractors’ proposals.
- Maintain close relationships with the customer and design organisations.
To be considered you must have:
- MCIOB membership.
- Chartered architect or Engineer.
- Advanced Design skills.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Advanced Knowledge of contracts and contract documentation.
- Advanced knowledge of construction materials, methods and technologies.
- Strong knowledge of planning techniques, procurement, management systems.
- Strong knowledge of risk management, life cycle cost and value creation.
- Knowledge of Fire Safety Improvement systems.
- Knowledge of temporary works.
