We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our team on a 10-month maternity cover contract, with the possibility of extension based on business needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with a background in the construction industry who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and can confidently manage key accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing the Purchase Ledger function, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Processing and administering the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), including subcontractor verification and monthly returns
  • Performing supplier statement reconciliations and resolving discrepancies promptly
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting month-end processes
  • Acting as the internal lead for project management software, supporting system administration, process improvements, and user adoption
  • Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth financial operations
  • Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc reporting and administrative tasks
Essential Experience & Skills
  • Strong working knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
  • Solid experience in Purchase Ledger
  • Experience with statement reconciliation
  • Previous experience working within the construction industry
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Confident communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
Desirable
  • Sage 200 experience
  • Experience using project management software
  • IATI qualification (or studying towards)
  • Intrastat Experience
  • Experience supporting process improvements or systems implementation
