Full-Time | Commercial HVAC & Controls Systems
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Building Automation & Controls Technician to join our HVAC service team. This technician will be responsible for the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial Building Automation Systems (BAS), working with technologies like Honeywell, Tridium Niagara, JCI, BACnet, and LON protocols.
Core Responsibilities:
- Install, program, maintain, and repair building automation systems from drawings, specs, and submittals
- Diagnose and resolve performance problems using TAB techniques and diagnostic tools
- Program and modify HVAC sub-systems and controls
- Maintain and repair pneumatic, electric, and DDC control systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, as-builts, and technical specifications
- Use Tridium Niagara N4 or similar interfaces (certification a plus)
- Perform functional system testing, troubleshooting, and system integration
- Communicate with engineers, vendors, contractors, and internal teams
- Maintain safety standards and ensure regulatory compliance at all job sites
Required Technical Experience:
- 4+ years in HVAC or BAS controls (service, install, or maintenance)
- 2+ years of automated system controls experience or formal training
- Familiarity with major platforms: Tridium Niagara, Honeywell WEBS, JCI FX, BACnet, LON
- Solid understanding of HVAC mechanical systems (VAVs, chillers, boilers, WSHPs, etc.)
- Comfortable working independently and resolving field issues with minimal supervision
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED (trade or vocational school preferred)
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving policy
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Able to work flexible hours, including job sites and mechanical rooms
- Understanding of single-phase and three-phase electrical systems
- Basic computer proficiency (email, service apps, digital documentation)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Able to climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and work at heights
- Must be able to work outdoors and in various weather conditions
- Use of hand and power tools as needed
