Dishwasher - Soho, London

Position Description

Cleans dishes, kitchen and food preparation equipment or utensils.

Essential Functions: (the position exists to perform these functions)

  • Operate the industrial dishwasher
  • Wash dishes, sweep/mop floors, clean and maintain equipment, sanitize utensils and maintain all areas of the restaurant.
  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment or utensils in clean and orderly conditions.
  • Clean food preparation areas, facilities or equipment.
  • Execute proper sanitation practices and safety procedures
  • Place clean dishes, utensils or cooking equipment in storage areas.
  • Empty and clean all trash receptacles
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment including the coffee machine, ice tea machine, lemon slicer and the POS system.
  • Provide assistance to line cook and other kitchen staff as needed, especially during peak times, including basic prep
  • Load or unload trucks that deliver or pick up food or supplies.
  • Perform opening, closing and side work
  • Clean up spills or broken glassware immediately
  • Report any sanitation or janitorial issues to appropriate party
  • Maintain all areas of the restaurant.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent customer service skills and etiquette
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be familiar with the setup, operation, break down, and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
  • Must possess a current Food Handler's Card, where applicable
  • Understanding of English language
  • Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to Employees and Management
  • Knowledge of all chemicals used in the building and ability to lean to use them properly.
  • Ability to learn restaurant menu and recipes and to guide the Guests on choosing menu items between spicy and mild dishes, etc.
  • Ability to learn restaurant seating layout and how tables are divided into server areas.
  • Ability to learn and follow uniform standards.
  • Ability to work around various levels of temperature, including warm to very warm temperatures in the kitchen.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, team work environment

ADA Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Must be able to stand and walk for periods of four to ten hours in length each shift.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, balance and transport various objects weighing up to 30 lbs repeatedly during a shift.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to Employees, dining room staff, Management and Guests.
  • Must be able to hear with 100% accuracy with correction.
  • Must be able to see at 20/20 vision with correction.
