P D Morgan Limited is a well-established joinery and bar fitting business with a proud reputation for quality, bespoke joinery. Based in Ogmore Vale, near Bridgend, South Wales, we specialise in bar and shop fittings for commercial contractors across the UK.
We are searching for a Joiner & Machinist (full time).
Hours of work:
- Monday to Friday 07:30 – 17:00
- Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 14:00
- Friday
Purpose of the Role:
Manufacturing windows, doors and general joinery items from working drawings. Would also be responsible for running materials out from bar tops, skirtings, cornice and mouldings etc for our bar/cabinet makers.
Key Accountabilities:
- Machine set up and template making.
- Proficient use of woodworking machinery – Panel saw; Resaw; Spindle; Thicknesser; Planer; Morticer etc.
- Read and interpret designs, technical drawings and written instructions.
- Manage work to strict timelines.
- Demonstrating high competence in use of woodworking machines, power tools, and hand tools, safely and compliantly with Health & Safety regulations.
- Ability to overcome technical making issues.
- Meticulous about creating perfect joints, symmetry, and sharp lines.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the factory.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe working space.
- Maintenance of tools, equipment, and machinery.
What we are looking for:
- Experienced joiner and machinist (5+ years) with good knowledge of different types of joinery techniques, materials, and finishes.
- Basic math skills for measuring and cutting materials accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure precise assembly and finishing.
- Commitment to quality and a ‘right first time’ approach.
- Ability to think one step ahead, considering how components fit together on site, as well as requirements of the spray department to achieve the best outcome.
- Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
Education/Qualifications:
- 3+ years practical experience as a joiner and machinist.
- Experience in wood machinery and machine setting up essential (saws, spindle moulds, tenoners), bench joinery assembly an advantage.
