The Role
As an External Boat Builder, you will play a key role in bringing our yachts to life, contributing directly to the quality and performance that defines Oyster. Reporting to the Boat Builder Manager at our Wroxham site, you will be responsible for manufacturing, assembling, and fitting a wide range of exterior components across our yacht range. This is a hands‑on role requiring precision, craftsmanship, and a strong understanding of marine construction techniques including carpentry / joinery and GRP fabrication. You will work closely with technical drawings and specifications, ensuring all installations meet our exacting standards while maintaining efficiency and safety throughout the build process.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Fitting sailing hardware (Winches, cleats, clutches and tracks)
- GRP/Fibreglass structure fitting and maintenance
- Fitting hull ports / marine windows
- Fitting of pull and push pits
- Fitting marine hatches
- Quality and snagging testing through deluge
- Window, Portlight and Hatch Installation
- Fairing & finishing of final Composite Modules
About you
- Robust boatbuilding construction knowledge
- Competent manufacturing knowledge (timber, fibreglass products as an example)
- Knowledge of safe working practices and good understanding of Health and Safety
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Experience of reading and understanding technical drawings
- Experience of working with raw materials and tools to a good standard
- Previous experience in the marine industry working with timber/GRP boats (Desirable)
- High levels of attention to detail and self‑motivation
- Comfortable working at pace with high volume of work and a team player
Qualifications
Relevant C&G Qualifications or equivalent (Desirable)
