We are looking for a professional Captain/Engineer or a couple team with solid ocean experience for this brand new Oyster 565 to help the owners complete their circumnavigation dreams on the Oyster World Rally 2026.

Handing over from Oyster in Ipswich, UK, the Captain will be involved from the beginning and get to know the boat alongside the owners. Their plans are to cruise slowly south to the Med working through any post launch snags, joining the Oyster Regatta in Palma in September before setting off for the Canaries and the ARC Plus bound for the Caribbean and the start of the Oyster World Rally in January 2026.

These active owners are comfortable coastal sailors and will have visiting friends and family who also sail. They will appreciate the help and knowledge of experienced ocean sailors forming the core crew for the duration of the whole rally until April 2027.

SOLE CAPTAINS or a COUPLE TEAM will be considered. Emphasis is on safety, ocean sailing experience, practical engineering skills, calm, personable people with a natural sailing wanderlust! Crew will be helpful in all areas on board including cooking, provisioning, general maintenance.

Requirements

  • Captain: Yachtmaster Ocean minimum, at least 2 ocean crossings (preferably as Captain), AEC 1&2 or proven engineering skills.
  • Mate: Yachtmaster Offshore desirable, cooking at sea experience.
  • Both: A couple in an established relationship works well due to cabin arrangements. The owners prefer not to be trialling a new relationship as they set sail for 2 years if possible!
