A South Wales local authority is seeking an experienced Food Safety Officer to provide interim support within their Environmental Health team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the effective delivery of the Council's food hygiene inspection programme.

Contract Location: South Wales

Contract Length: Up to 12 months

Start Date: April

Rate: Up to £100 per inspection (PPI)

IR35: Inside or Outside

Expenses: Mileage and parking reimbursed

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake food hygiene inspections for premises rated Categories C, D and E within a designated area of South Wales.
  • Complete inspection reports using paper forms, submitted either in person or electronically via scanned copies.
  • Deliver a minimum of 10–20 inspections per week, in line with the Council's schedule and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure all work meets FSA guidelines and local authority standards.
  • CPD / Competencies updated.
