A well-established and growing civil engineering contractor based in Derbyshire is looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team. The business delivers a diverse portfolio of civil engineering works including infrastructure, highways, drainage, groundworks and earthworks projects throughout the Midlands and surrounding areas. Due to continued growth and a strong order book, they are seeking an ambitious Quantity Surveyor who is looking to build a long-term career with a company that rewards performance and promotes from within. Key Responsibilities
- Managing the commercial delivery of civil engineering projects from inception through to final account.
- Preparing applications for payment and managing cash flow.
- Valuing variations, change events and additional works.
- Subcontract procurement, management and account settlement.
- Producing cost reports, forecasts and commercial updates.
- Supporting operational teams with commercial advice and guidance.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector.
- Good understanding of NEC forms of contract.
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Groundworks and earthworks experience would be highly beneficial.
- Experience working on infrastructure, highways, drainage or heavy civil engineering schemes.
- Degree qualified or working towards a relevant construction/commercial qualification.
