A well-established and growing civil engineering contractor based in Derbyshire is looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team. The business delivers a diverse portfolio of civil engineering works including infrastructure, highways, drainage, groundworks and earthworks projects throughout the Midlands and surrounding areas. Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the commercial delivery of civil engineering projects from inception through to final account.
  • Preparing applications for payment and managing cash flow.
  • Valuing variations, change events and additional works.
  • Subcontract procurement, management and account settlement.
  • Producing cost reports, forecasts and commercial updates.
  • Supporting operational teams with commercial advice and guidance.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector.
  • Good understanding of NEC forms of contract.
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience

  • Groundworks and earthworks experience would be highly beneficial.
  • Experience working on infrastructure, highways, drainage or heavy civil engineering schemes.
  • Degree qualified or working towards a relevant construction/commercial qualification.
